remove the /etc/X11/xorg.conf, rather rename it and try again. I haven't
used xorg.conf for about 8 months now on four different systems.

I'm still trying to get my NVidia to work with RC2. For some reason
the xorg.conf copied from 11.4 to 12.1 RC2 didn't work and I gave up
for the evening. I'll be back at it tomorrow, however. I think I may
also have some network / DHCP timeout issues - the wired eth0 comes up
eventually but it thrashes a bit in the process and I'm not sure
what's going on.

use the kernel from "factory"?
Yes.
done, did not make any difference.
ps: please include kernel-devel or the nvidia driver will not install for
the new kernel and the stock/standard driver limits the screen to
1024x768.
note: "nomodeset" kernel boot parameter was required for the beta, didn't
test for RC1 but is not necessary for RC2 on my Acer 5520.
