Re: [opensuse-testing] 11.2 RC2 on Acer 5520
zypper dup from RC1 -> RC2 successful every where afaics. Had initial problems of packages not being available, probably mirrors not yet current. NVidia proprietary driver installed and working. synaptics/touchpad taps do *not* work, could this be related to the nvidia driver? tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-testing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-testing+owner@opensuse.org

Nope its unrelated. Try the kernel from https://build.opensuse.org/project/repositories?project=home%3Anamtrac%3Abra... and let me know if it fixes the touchpad. We couldn't make the fixes to final release so we'll roll as an update. use the kernel from "factory"? -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-testing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-testing+owner@opensuse.org

done, did not make any difference. ps: please include kernel-devel or the nvidia driver will not install for the new kernel and the stock/standard driver limits the screen to 1024x768. note: "nomodeset" kernel boot parameter was required for the beta, didn't test for RC1 but is not necessary for RC2 on my Acer 5520. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-testing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-testing+owner@opensuse.org
I'm still trying to get my NVidia to work with RC2. For some reason
the xorg.conf copied from 11.4 to 12.1 RC2 didn't work and I gave up
for the evening. I'll be back at it tomorrow, however. I think I may
also have some network / DHCP timeout issues - the wired eth0 comes up
eventually but it thrashes a bit in the process and I'm not sure
what's going on.

remove the /etc/X11/xorg.conf, rather rename it and try again. I haven't used xorg.conf for about 8 months now on four different systems. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-testing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-testing+owner@opensuse.org
