The openSUSE board election[1] closed today, so we have 2 new members on the board replacing Pascal Bleser and Henne Vogelsang.
Election results:
Henne Vogelsang, 125 votes Peter Linnell, 72 votes
Sankar P, 71 votes Sebastion Kuegler, 64 votes Chuck Payne, 39 votes Nelson Marques, 23 votes
which makes 220 votes out of 469 members who were eligible to vote. Thanks for all candidates who stepped up and all members who casted their votes!
Greetings from the election committee! (election-officials@opensuse.org)
[1] http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Board_election_2010 Please forgive me for asking 3 stupid questions:
1) if Henne was being replaced (together with Pascal), how did he manage to get 125 votes?;
2) who, in fact got elected to the board?; and
3) adding up 125+72+71+64+39+23 does not result in a total of 220 votes ("out of 469...."). How is the sum of 220 votes you quote above arrived at?
Thank you for your patience.

Basil,
Henne at first didn't say he was going to re-run, he could because he had only ran once.
Henne is now going to serve his second term, and Peter Linnel going to replace Pascal, who couldn't run because he has server twice.
On voting each member got to vote twice as their two seats open.

Thank you, Chuck, for this quick response - much appreciated. But, to be honest, I am confused. Henne was elected in the same year as Pascal (2008) [http://en.opensuse.org/Archive:Board_2008], and in the list of board members after the 2009 elections he is shown, together with Pascal, as a board member: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Board Does this mean that in both 2008 and 2009 he was elected as a one-year board member? Even if this was the case, doesn't this mean that he has done the hard-slog of 2 years on the board? I am sorry, but this is all very confusing. No doubt I am wrong, but then perhaps the notifications and lists of board members should be better presented so as not to cause confusion. Just a suggestion on my part, of course. As you correctly point out, according to the election rules each member can cast one vote for each of the candidates for the available vacancies on the board. Accepting this, the figures provided in the results of the election still do not add up according to my calculations and based on what has been stated so far. My apologies. I would be most grateful if it be pointed out where my calculations and understanding of the past election results is suspect. Thank you.
