Thanks for the explanations. Is kde/plasma5 similar to the old kde4 that came up until at least 13.1? I always install that before installing kde3 so that I have access to all kde4 packages, but I never login to kde4. I wonder whether there will be a solution to the crash of kde3 in 42.2. I need to evaluate whether on a new system I want to run 42.2 with KDE3 or with Trinity or maybe install 42.1 with KDE3. Thanks, Gianluca On Sat, 7 Jan 2017, masigi@tiscali.it wrote:

Thanks for posting this script. I am curious to know whether you installed any other desktop or did you do a minimal X installation?
Thanks,
Gianluca
I installed kde/plasma5 because I needed some packages included in the KSC. Instead of picking them one by one I installed the whole session, but I never logged into a plasma5 session. At the end of the installation I logged into IceWM, I uninstalled plasma5-session, plasma5-workspace and I installed KDE3 and MATE, I changed DM from sddm to kdm3 and finally I logged into KDE3 and experienced the mentioned crashes for the first time.
Best regards, Ciao. E.
