i've installed it from

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/saispo/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/

even though i'm not using tumbleweed. awesome needs cairo to be compiled  
with certain options that aren't applied in openSUSE normally, so i  
installed awesome and those cairo dependencies from the above repo (giving  
the whole repo lower priority). this has been working fine for several  
months. awesome & those dependencies get updated, and the rest doesn't  
interfere with my non-tumbleweed installation.
