Currently the only way to know how it works on your computer is to try.
You can install KDE4 on 11.0, and use Build Service repository to update to
newest version. I did that for quite some time with openSUSE 10.3.
Here you will find few links to repositories:

If you want to make sure that it will not mess you current settings, create
new user using YaST Users, and log in to that user.

I have OpenSuSE 11.0 installed,with KDE-3.5.9.I want
to upgrade to OpenSuSE 11.1,with KDE-4.1,I have read
on the Internet that KDE4.1 is better than KDE3 in
memory management, but others disagree and say that
KDE4 needs more memory than KDE-3.5.9.My system has
less than 256M,so I do not want to change to KDE-4.1
if that means a too slow computer.Any opinions?
Thanks.
