The date http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11418
was filed suggests that 10.2 is the last openSUSE version
that supports virtual desktops. If this is true, I cannot
upgrade. Virtual desktop is an upgrade blocker for me. Anyone
else? What can we do? I can't fix 11418. :-(

???

Virtual desktops are still there ..

This is portion of xorg.conf from 10.2:

Section "Screen"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768" "800x600
# virtual 1280 720
# virtual 1280 800
# virtual 1366 768
# virtual 1440 900
# virtual 1680 1050
virtual 1680 1200
# virtual 1920 1080
# virtual 1920 1200
# virtual 1920 1440
# virtual 1400 2048
# virtual 2048 2048
EndSubSection

Can you guess why I need them?

Maybe he refers to the panning feature, which has gone with
xrandr 1.2. Look at: http://emmes.livejournal.com/2700.html
-----------snip------------------

I think this functionality is being re-implemented in
xrandr1.3. I was just recently reading about this but cannot
remember the link.

If 10.2 does what you need then I suggest sticking w/ it for awhile,
then see what the new year brings.

If I find the article I read I will post the link here.

see ya
