Yes, please read http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2008-10/msg00002.html
The info there is incorrect. It says: As a consequence, the openSUSE 10.2 distribution directory on our ftp server ftp.suse.com will be moved from /pub/suse/*/10.2/ to the /pub/suse/discontinued/ directory tree structure to free space on our However, that tree on ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/discontinued/ is empty, there is nothing there (I just opened it now to check). Where do you keep the discontinued versions now? You should either correct the wrong info in that email, or reconstruct the server structure. I have asked before about this situation, but got no answer. If the intention is to remove old versions from your servers, please say so and don't give misleading info. - -- Saludos Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAklHGBIACgkQtTMYHG2NR9XqjACfaW3xtWAlQj0jxIl5+M8t8lZp q9sAn13Bs6tfJXObcMGp7RVGyxipgLxq =Bzpx -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Maybe because you post to $random_list instead of mailing the mail's author? Bye, Steve -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

By sending a second email with the correction.

Ha! In the past, the opensuse-security mail list has been the channel to comment on security-announce mail list mails: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security/2008-10/msg00012.html On another list a coleague of yours said that it was intentional, so I lot heart. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. This is portion of xorg.conf from 10.2: Section "Screen" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1024x768" "800x600 # virtual 1280 720 # virtual 1280 800 # virtual 1366 768 # virtual 1440 900 # virtual 1680 1050 virtual 1680 1200 # virtual 1920 1080 # virtual 1920 1200 # virtual 1920 1440 # virtual 1400 2048 # virtual 2048 2048 EndSubSection Can you guess why I need them?

That's it exactly. I have a new box built to replace the one now running 10.2. Desktop "panning" is crucial, so I have to pick an OS to install that has it. I think this functionality is being re-implemented in xrandr1.3. I was just recently reading about this but cannot remember the link. If 10.2 does what you need then I suggest sticking w/ it for awhile, then see what the new year brings. If I find the article I read I will post the link here. see ya -- dh -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I Googled for an answer myself, and found *an* answer (Option "NoRandr", which I seem to have correctly guessed works in Section "Device" for 11.1) in a discussion of the proprietary ATI driver. I didn't report back because I was hoping for this thread to include in the mailing list archives a response from someone who knows a pointer that doesn't require Googling, hopefully an exhaustive list of most or all possible xorg.conf options omitted from its man page, located somewhere in /usr. The 2nd hit on your Google results page offers in the context of proprietary NVidia drivers the following: Section "ServerFlags" Option "RandR" "false" EndSection That isn't intuitively helpful for non-proprietary driver nv, mga or intel users. The only hit on an opensuse.org URL among the first 30 is not on point. None of the info I've found anywhere so far tells anything about whether disabling is required in other than xorg.conf for :0, and none addresses disabling for non-proprietary drivers. If I could get better help locating definitive docs, then I could include a new section on the issue on http://en.opensuse.org/Users_FAQ#Graphics_Card_Drivers to make it easier for the next upgrader who's lost his virtual. :-) -- "Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain."
