Bad. I think that this is a clear example of thing that you (kde-team) should take care of. upstream is broken but this is not a good reason to keep things broken.. Bye.
Given how much work bulding a new environment was/is, it's a fair decision to break backwards compatibility in this area.
Disagree. I'll do but it's wasted time... and not only for end users but for devs too. This thread, bugreport that will follow, debate...
Guys, setting up your new pim suite it YOUR contribution to the future of KDE - do it with pride.
This time is kmail, next time? Firefox ? Thunderbird ? Xxx ? Yyy ? These are things that make differences between distroes or using LFS..
I spoke to the KMail maintainer upstream about it and it's supposed to work but untested. Obviously it's broken. We still have a small window between now and 4.1 to fix this. Does anyone want to help me out with some test case configs? The method I am thinking is: 1) Produce sample KDE 3 kmail config - made from scratch each representing a user type eg. POP user POP + filters user IMAP user disconnected IMAP user IMAP user with local filtering 2) Copy this config into .kde4 and start kmail, see what happens 3) Note bugs 4) Create clean KDE 4 config representing the desired outcome 5) Tar up original, migrated, and ideal kde4 configs for dissection by the developers.
