the latest Tumbleweed kernel update 3.3.6 to 3.4.0 breaks cifs-mounting my NAS (used to work flawlessly with 3.3.6 and before). Accessing the NAS with smbclient still works.
Please try the more current cifs-utils version from the network:samba:STABLE repository at http://download.openSUSE.org/repositories/network:/samba:/STABLE/openSUSE_12...
If that helps we need to inform Greg to link this version into Tumbleweed too. [...]

Again, we shouldn't need to update any userspace tool to keep the kernel working here, unless there are "odd" patches in the kernel that SUSE has added in this area. Perhaps that's the problem? Does the vanilla kernel work for you?
the vanilla kernel shows the very same behaviour (with both versions of the cifs-utils), but cf. my previous post on my machine at work.
Ok, thanks for letting us know. Hopefully someone is looking into this, did you happen to create a bug for it?
no, where would I do that? Novell's Bugzilla, samba.org's Bugzilla or
somewhere else?
