After updating a fresh install of RC2 KDE, the resolution was completely wrong giving me a 600x800 desktop at 16bit color. I changed the VGA value in GRUB to reflect my actual resolution and a 24 bit color depth. This corrects the resolution and color, but the performance is terrible even with compositing off or in XFCE. Not to mention that setting breaks the bootsplash (sad face).
