1. Install SUSE Studio Image Writer (it's in the repos) 2. Download the openSUSE ISO you want to write to USB (for people like me who were stuck in a different year, the DVD ISOs work in this procedure too) 3. Plug in (but don't mount) your USB stick, and launch SUSE Studio Image Writer. 4. Drag/drop the downloaded ISO on to the target in SUSE Studio Image Writer and click Write.
That's it. once the write is done, you boot the USB stick on any computer that can boot from USB.
Thanks for the howto. The only thing missing is that the source needs to be switched from CD to Hard Disk when you install.
I only had to do this on the 12.1 Milestone 3 (installed it today on a machine for testing). I did an install using the 11.4 ISO today (written to USB using these steps) and I didn't have to go through the broken install procedure (where it drops to text mode and you have to tell it to do a hard drive install). So... works as expected with 11.4, but not quite as expected with 12.1.... not sure why.
