[opensuse-factory] net install with boot/i386/loader kernel fails to start up yast

I can boot the kernel+initrd and download the 6-part installation
system, but a few seconds after it reports the terminal screen size, my
monitor blanks and the system is hung.
System is i386. Every other distro works fine on it. WinXP too.
It's been like this for a week or so now. Will this be fixed for 11.3?
Any ideas?
