This is ok and true. It just has bugs, but that's no readon to disable

No, it might work well with a slightly newer X driver or with other
chipsets.

BTW: does 2.6.34rc2 boot for you? For me does lots of stackdumps
early that I can only see with "vga=0" and then hangs hard. (But that's
my own kernel-desktop-without-the-need-for-pae from home:seife:KOTD, so
I'm not complaining, just interested if it's my fault ;)

I generally install 64-bit systems so I haven't tested the pae desktop
kernel. The 64-bit desktop kernel 2.6.34-rc2 boots fine for me though.
