It's not bleeding edge, when the time 11.3 goes final all "famous piece of software" is stable. Maybe kde 4.5 won't be released before 11.3. GNOME will be on 2.30.1 or 2.30.2 at that time. BTW: does 2.6.34rc2 boot for you? For me does lots of stackdumps early that I can only see with "vga=0" and then hangs hard. (But that's my own kernel-desktop-without-the-need-for-pae from home:seife:KOTD, so I'm not complaining, just interested if it's my fault ;)

I'm using 2.6.34-rc2 with no problems. Mine comes from wireless testing and has no openSUSE patches/changes, but it works fine. My graphics adapter is nVidia GeForce Go 7150M for which I use the frame buffer driver, i.e. no 3D acceleration. X11:Xorg works fine for me too on an Intel GPU.

The video driver autodetection issue (relevant on ATI/NVIDIA/VIA) is fixed now. :-)

On my box HAL is not started on bootup anymore, and input hotplug seems to work.

But it's not really understood yet and apparently on some machines no input drivers are loaded at all.
