Or just wait for 10 seconds and you're good to go. No need to kill anything. Scott Reeves mentioned that he might try to lower the value that packagekitd holds the lock, but it needs to be tested and probably wont end up in 11.2. Also, as mentioned, PackageKit might actually have been doing work at this point (such as checking for updates etc), in which case you should have had an icon in your notification area.

It was about half an hour between tries. I did get the popup that asked for an update server to be configured, but ignored that. Regards Sid.
