        I think it's KDE4. I loaded KDE3 tonight on the same box and just on a 
whim,
in KDE3:

29088 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5817.566 FPS
28206 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5595.628 FPS

27854 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5570.760 FPS
28236 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5647.170 FPS
29807 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5953.829 FPS
29799 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5956.565 FPS
29687 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5930.866 FPS
