yes, you are running the proprietary NVidia driver, not "nv" as I stated. I still don't belive that glx is available with "nv" driver.
You are right, Patrick, that the glxgears cannot be used with the "nv" driver. At least I cannot reproduce this working combination at this time. I qualify the above by stating that I am almost damn positive that I have been able to run glxgears with the nv driver being specified in xorg.conf recently: I ran glxgears only to find that my fps were in the 150+fps range which is not what the reading should be. I then edited xorg.conf to use "nvidia" driver, re-ran glxgears and the stats. came up to what they ought to be (for my video card etc.).
