In the last day or so I got a reply on the list, create a list of 
packages you want to be locked, e.g.
 # less /etc/zypp/locks
libmtp
amarok
libxine1
libxine1-devel
glabels
audacity

In my previous update without the locks file, some of the above packages 
were removed, but weren't in my latest updates on 2 boxes.
