The "problem" is that marking a pattern as taboo does not mark the contained packages as taboo. The packages are "only" unselected and can be re-selected via dependencies (which happens with zmd).
Thats a general problem with the way patterns are implemented. Currently they represent dependencies to packages - which is fine for dependency resolution (and raising a dependency error if pattern dependencies are violated). However, in the described scenario, they really should be groups (ZENworks calls them 'bundles'). This would also make de-installing a pattern easier - something we don't have a solution for yet. Stuff for further discussion I guess.
