The reason I ask is thier reluctance to acknowledge the equality of wordprocessors and desktop publishers at a school level. part of the exam requirement is the ability to import text from a wordprocessor into a dtp package! this would effectively eliminate the use of staroffice and several other systems. So, if anyone knows of the existance of a dtp package under linux please let me know.
Star can allow various "save as" formats and read in various formats. Why not import into Star (as the dtp) from (say) a text file created by a simple text editor? What do the exam board say when questioned? I know for CLAIT we set the method to be agreed by them and had no problem using non-MS products although their curriculum was clearly MS orientated. -- Best wishes, Derek Harding, (BA MIAP) ICT & Network Manager hardingd@warlingham.surrey.sch.uk
