Yes, it'd be better to have the different outputs. At least, it's interesting
whether the speaker is still muted even if the headphone jack control indicates
false.
Another debugging point is to check whether the unsolicited events are properly
invoked at the plugging/unplugging. Try the following as root:
- Run the command below
echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/hda/hda_unsol_event/enable
- Plug the headphone
- Check the output of /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/trace
It'll show a event if the hardware works properly.
- Check the unplug event as well.
