This is 12.3 final, and 12.2 also was having the same problem in RC1 HP Compaq nc6400, core 2 duo, 2GRAM, 250G drive. No USB devices plugged in, no internet connection. BIOS set for single core, all USB, bluetooth, etc. turned off. It has to create /dev/loop1 and /dev/loop2 just prior. The system works fine with 12.1. And with 12.2 it goes past this but writes out a message a second or two before going to graphics. Something about having to edit the udev command list. Sure, on a DVD! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Put 12.3 DVD installer in drive 2. Turn on the laptop 3. Watch it until vdev hangs, no messages, and about 15 minutes later it shuts down. Actual Results: Crash Expected Results: udev should time out and then continue installation. Provide a way of saving messages that can be read with a working system.
