Hi,
I have exactly the same problem with OpenSuse 11.4 x86_64, and printer HP
OfficeJet Pro8500 n909n.
When using the JetDirect IP, it works, but when configured trough the HP
utility, it produces "Unable to open the initial device, quitting."
