BIOS capabilities are very limited. No, I'm afraid there is none related with
ASPM (I only can enable/disable the ethernet adapter but nothing more).
I've also tried passing "pcie_aspm=off" parameter to the kernel but seems to
have no effect:
(with kernel 2.6.34)

Yes, it is still happening (see my comment #32 on Novell's bugzilla)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=615761#c32
I know, it's hard to diagnose... what puzzles me most is not seeing more
reports/complaints about this, as this should a very common NIC chipset :-?

Does the BIOS on the system allow ASPM to be disabled? If so can you try
disabling it and give it a try?

Is this still happening on 2.6.35 now that it's released?
Yes, it is still happening (see my comment #32 on Novell's bugzilla)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=615761#c32
We need to narrow this down more than it is so we can see what
has changed. It does seem that this is broken on 2.6.34 but since we don't
have one of these systems (and haven't seen this for some time now) it's going
to be very hard for us to narrow down the actual changes that could be causing
the problem.
I know, it's hard to diagnose... what puzzles me most is not seeing more
reports/complaints about this, as this should a very common NIC chipset :-?
