FYI:

on a 11.2 partition I tried to run "zypper dup" to update to 11.3-factory and
got the following error:

Retrieving package batik-1.7-200.2.noarch (2413/3319), 3.8 MiB (7.5 MiB
unpacked)
Retrieving: batik-1.7-200.2.noarch.rpm [done (2.3 MiB/s)]
Installing: batik-1.7-200.2 [error]
Installation of batik-1.7-200.2 failed:
(with --nodeps --force) Error: Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error:
unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/share/batik: cpio: rename failed - Is
a directory


for now and me, "rm -rf /usr/share/batik" fixed this problem ;-)
