--- Comment #23 from Vance 萬斯 Baarda
I cannot reproduce the black screen/freeze on my 845G machine (Dell Optiplex GX260) at all. I'm using a regular 1280x1024 TFT monitor. I suggest to switch to fbdev driver as workaround. Use 'sax2 -r -m 0=fbdev' to achieve this Need to close this one as WORKSFORME.
Found a better workaround -- use KDE instead of Gnome! It appears that Gnome restarts X during login (as control passes from the login screen to Gnome itself). KDE does not do this, so the bug described in this report does not get triggered. I can still always reproduce this problem by stopping and starting X multiple times in quick succession, but by using KDE, it doesn't really matter. Still, I hope the i915 driver (or whatever the problem is) gets fixed sometime. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
