http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=531729 Summary: KDE 4.3 does not start on remote X11 displays Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: bjoern@cs.tu-berlin.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-AT; rv:1.8.1.22) Gecko/20090605 SeaMonkey/1.1.17 Mnenhy/0.7.6.666 KDE 4.3 does not start correctly, if the KDE session is started from a remote X11 display. This report is for KDE 4.3 from KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop.repo, but this problem already exists since KDE 4.1 and 4.2. KDE seems to start correctly at first, the splash screen appears. But later the Panel crashes and the screen becomes black again. One guess is, that the DBUS permissions for remote screens cause this problems. There is an error "Could not connect to D-Bus server: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoServer: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-iJehEOfJ6B" in the xsession log file. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install KDE 4.3 (from KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop.repo) and configure KDM with XDMCP support 2. Connect an other workstation via XDMCP with "X -query server-machine" 3. Login in KDM with KDE session Actual Results: The panel crashes after the splash screen runs some seconds. See the attached log files for details. Expected Results: A working KDE session. "remote-X-display-pc" is the workstation which acts as a remote X terminal. "mybox" is the server machine with KDE 4.3 and KDM. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
