I run Kubuntu 9.04 on the remote X server without any problems. Normally I run Kubuntu 9.04 standalone, but here I stopped KDM on Kubuntu and ran "X -query server-machine". The same remote KDE problems appear, if I run Cygwin/X as the remote X server. I think, KDE shuts down itself, after some services could not be started. But this is not always the case. Sometimes KDE also starts (with some crash dialogs, restarting new default KDE panels, timeouts etc.). But it never runs stable on the remote X11 screen. So a lot of other KDE applications are usable. But also the Plasma desktop crashes: xsession-errors.kcrash.bz2 (see full log attached): [...] Plasma crashed, attempting to automatically recover [...] Plasma asks with a dialog, if the user wishes a new panel. After answering this question, the desktop comes up.
