http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=503739 Summary: online update invokes erroneous dependency namely fglrx Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Maintenance AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rodneyp@pcug.org.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/3.5; Linux) KHTML/3.5.10 (like Gecko) SUSE online update presents the following packages for update: bluez, Firefox 3.0.10, libgnomeu, foomatic-filters, bind, beagle So far so good, I would like all those, but when I "Accept" it invokes additional packages including ati-fglrx-kmp-default and X11-video-fglrx-G01 as automatic additions to resolve dependencies. I know from experience that fglrx will trash my system irretrievably. The only recovery is fresh install or restore from backup to fresh filesystem. I manually scrolled through all the dependencies of the above updates, hoping to find (and deselect) the one invoking fglrx. No luck - non of them actually require fglrx. My mainboard has AMD 740G chipset. Does not work with radeonhd, but OK with radeon. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.might require AMD chipset on mainboard and specifically 740G 2.invoke Yast2->Online Update 3.I have not proceeded beyond that - not prepared to restore or re-install Actual Results: available updates found as described above. Proceeding invokes additional updates to resolve dependencies Expected Results: install named updates, without installing fglrx await advice re which logs might be useful. zypper.log contains nothing contemporary. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
