The problems are being caused because the size of the System Monitor window is too big. The minimum display for OpenSuSE was supposed to be 800 x 600, but if a bottom panel is used (and almost everyone uses at least 1 panel) then it messes up if "compiz" is active (which is the case every time you re-start the computer because the "Desktop Effects" is not retaining data across shutdown and startup). The choices seem to be: 1. Fall back to the previous "System Manager" which was smaller. 2. Reformat the new one to be small enough to at least fit a 600 line screen minus the height of the bottom bar. 3. Change the type of Window that "System Manager" is using so that it has a vertical scroll bar.
