I think the key to the problem may be that there are no LPL monitors in the
SaX2: X11 Configuration screens.
Putting it another way, LPL is a monitor vendor in 10.3 and not a vendor in
11.0 Alpha 3.
Nevertheless, hwinfo identifies the monitor as an LPL CD515 154W01, while SaX2
is saying it is a Dell 1280X.
Is it possible that the hardware tables on the CDs used for configuration
during installation have not been updated to match a newer table I may have
downloaded into the laptop during an online update of Yast?
Btw, I don't see how I can provide an alternate hwinfo file when the screen and
OS become unusable if I select LPL as the monitor. The only way out of that
mess I've found is a forced power off.
