I see exactly this problem on SUSE 10.1 too. In a lab of machines one had a ZMD
that corrupted its file and zmd was reset using the steps outlined on
http://en.opensuse.org/Troubleshooting_zmd . Attempting to do an update after
acroread 8 update came out now consistently fails. removing the existing
acroread RPM and attempting to install acroread continues to fail:
# rug install acroread

There are no installable providers of libicui18n.so.34 for
acroread-8.1.2-1.7.i586[20060713-141246]
acroread-8.1.2-1.4.i586[20060713-141246] provides libicuuc.so.34, but another
version of that package is already installed.
mozilla-xulrunner-32bit-1.8.0.1-32.6.x86_64[20060713-141246] needed by
acroread-8.1.2-1.7.i586[20060713-141246]
The machine in question is an x86_64 an all other updates have been applied.
