https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=362921 Summary: Impossible to install exim and sendmail in parallel Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Alpha 2 Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: poeml@novell.com ReportedBy: lmuelle@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: werner@novell.com, mrueckert@novell.com Found By: --- Currently it's impossible to install exim and sendmail in parallel. This is useful for migration from one MTA to the other and even if the use of one of the MTAs is required by a particular feature. Currently both packages have some files conflicting. These are: /usr/bin/mailq -> ../sbin/exim /usr/bin/newaliases -> ../sbin/exim /usr/bin/rsmtp -> ../sbin/exim /usr/bin/runq -> ../sbin/exim /usr/lib/sendmail -> ../sbin/exim /usr/sbin/sendmail -> exim /usr/share/man/man8/sendmail.8.gz -> exim.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/mailq.8.gz -> exim.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/newaliases.8.gz -> exim.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/rsmtp.8.gz -> exim.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/runq.8.gz -> exim.8.gz I've installed exim with the help of rpm2cpio. The conflicting files I left out. This works well if sendmail is able to bind to 127.0.0.1. Peter suggested in a private discussion to consider the usage of the update-alternative mechanism. Therefore I'm adding Marcus. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
