--- Comment #3 from Alberto Passalacqua 2007-11-06 03:36:20 MST ---
Just to clarify, I would like to add some comments:
1. We discussed the lack of this driver after the release of 10.2 and it was
ignored for 10.3.
2. I proposed it here as enhancement, and not as a bug.
3. It is in _your_ interest to have this driver in the distribution because
your competitors have it directly in their official RPM set.
4. All commercial packages (java, adobe reader, helix banshee, agfa fonts, ...)
are provided that way, with a dialog popping out in YaST and without any
message if they're installed as RPM.
However, some search lead to find what follows:
- The driver hosted at sourceforge is under GPL, with the exception of the part
derived from IJS, as you can read in the README file associated to the source
you can get from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/epsonepl/
- The IJS part is released under MIT license, and its source is available. In
the README.ijs you can read:
"Licensing
All source code in this distribution is released under the MIT
License. I want everybody to be able to use this."
Moreover the IJS project is now hosted at LinuxPrinting
http://www.linuxprinting.org/ijs/ and the original projec from HP is under a
BSD-like licence (http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_driver.cgi?driver=hpijs).
With kind regards,
Alberto
