If you could finish installation, but you have added acpi=off at first
installation boot, yast will add this parameter as default and you have to
explicitly remove it, either in grub at boot time or in:
/boot/grub/menu.lst
Also removing the splash=silent and vga=xyz parameters should help to see where
the machine hangs or gets slow.
Are you able to attach a serial cable and enable serial console to catch the
hang on another machine? Hmm, the machine probably does not have a serial
device?
Some ideas:
If it hangs or is slow, does constantly pressing a key (producing interrupts)
make the machine faster again?
Does nohz=disable boot param help?
If you hit e.g. the NUM lock key, does the LED get switched or is the machine
totally dead?
If it is totally dead, you might want to do a picture where it hangs in text
mode and attach it.
