Hi Team, Sorry I've been quiet for the last few weeks, been busy with work. Catching up with things now, it looks like we've still got plenty of work to do before we're 'ready' for 12.2 Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the below is my understanding of the current state of play We have my poorly implemented draft versions of the wallpaper, bootsplash, and all application splashes done, uploading to the appropriate gitorious repository http://gitorious.org/opensuse/art and implemented in 12.2/Factory as the appropriate branding packages We also have a new design floating around (source here) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32600284/test3.xcf.zip which is being billed as the 'new 12.2 design' in the Splash screen contest. However, this design is not in our gitorious repository, and is not packaged in any way, manner, or form for 12.2/Factory This leaves us with quite a dilemma - Being an xcf file and not our usual svg, it is going to need someone to do a significant amount of work to rework all of our tools currently held in http://gitorious.org/opensuse/art to properly implement this design across the distribution. I hate to be a party pooper, I am not prepared to do that much work alone, and am not aware of any others working on packaging art for 12.2. We've historically used SVG's because it makes things a lot easier when it comes to this implementation stuff (and there's other benefits too but not relevant for this discussion) I believe svg's is the right way we should be doing things and even if I didn't, I don't think approaching milestone 3 is a good time to throw out all of our tooling for the sake of this (rather nice) new design. If that design can be implemented in our usual svg format, I am prepared to do the work for packaging and implementing it, as well as remaking all the splash screens like I already have done for Factory If it can't be, we're going to need people to help get this design working and packaged - please take a look at what we have in the gitorious repo to learn how we're doing currently and all the places this design needs to be used. If you're interested in helping, please dive in, and I'll do everything I can to help you. Alternatively, we can return to the already implemented draft svg design and just tweak and tune that, all of those files are in gitorious, again, feel free to roll up your sleeves and pitch in, I'll help every way I can - I can be found here, or on #opensuse-artwork as usual Regards Richard / Ilmehtar -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
