The command "mount -t smbfs //osiris/scsi-raid /S -o username=cfd" does not give an error message. However, with "df" I get
Try adding users to your mount options, as well as rw if that is what you want. Also, what is the permissions on /S?
I just checked man smbmount, and saw that users is not valid for smbfs. Try uid=xxx or gid=users or something like that to give your users permission.
I tried mount -t smbfs //osiris/scsi-raid /S -o username=cfd,uid=cfd,rw
but I get the same error: oberon:/ # ls -d /S /bin/ls: /S: Permission denied
The same happens with the additional option gid=users. I didn't try smbfstab yet.
Just to be clear: the share is on a windows server 2003, not on a Samba server.

What are the permissions of the /S directory before the mount ? Just a thought .... -- William A. Mahaffey III --------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember, ignorance is bliss, but willful ignorance is LIBERALISM !!!!
