[yast-devel] reduce builtin

Hi, it's ITO Friday again. I still have an improved patch for the reduce function (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reduce_%28higher-order_function%29) lying around (see attachment). It adds two versions of the function: 1) One that takes an initial value. integer sum = list::reduce(integer x, integer y, 0, [ 1, 2, 3 ], { return x + y; }); integer product = list::reduce(integer x, integer y, 1, [ 1, 2, 3 ], { return x * y; }) 2) One were the initial value is the value of the first list entry. Here the list must of course have at least one entry. integer min = list::reduce(integer x, integer y, [ 1, 2, 3 ], { return x < y ? x : y; }); integer max = list::reduce(integer x, integer y, [ 1, 2, 3 ], { return x > y ? x : y; }); The behaviour is now analogous to Python's reduce so it shouldn't be completely screwed. The patch contains no binary incompatibility to libycp or the bytecode. Please comment. ciao Arvin

[yast-devel] SuSEFirewall Module Extensions

Moin, It seems that some YaST modules would like to have some new (but quite specific) functions. It's not the first time I have to refuse adding them to SuSEFirewall YCP module to keep it still useful (depends on your point of view). See Bug 401270 - yast2-ldap configuration SLP scan doesn't warn on closed firewall port https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=401270 I'd like to create another SuSEFirewall* YCP module containing these special functions but on the other hand I don't want to create just another module because of one function. YaST Workshop 2008 --------------------- ...is taking place in Nuremberg, June 30 to July 4. This time we are not going to see any boring presentations [1] followed by another boring discussion [1], we re going to *have fun* working on projects we always wanted to work on [2]. Current projects are available at YaST Research [3] page but the list is not closed as everyone can add their own project. 2. YaST Style Guide ------------------- Again it's right time to mention our future YaST Style Guide [4]. It's not yet finished but the final 'File->Save' is near. See also bug 398478 [5]. 3. Work Recently Done --------------------- There were several YaST-SVN commits here and there fixing some minor issues or adding or polishing functionality. 4. YaST Documentation --------------------- Finally the YaST Documentation for openSUSE 11.0 [6] has been uploaded at Forge as usually [7]. 5. AppArmor ----------- Several YaST/AppArmor-utils bugs have been fixed. Special thanks to jreidinger who took this challenge as an opportunity to learn more about YaST itself and created his first patches to YaST. 6. New Package Bindings & Some Changed -------------------------------------- New Package bindings functions have been added: Pkg::GetArchitecture(), Pkg::SetArchitecture(), and Pkg::SystemArchitecture(). Pkg::SourceFinishAll() now works differently [8]. 7. SuSEFirewall Services ------------------------ Internal definitions of firewall services have been dropped from YaST [9] and replaced with "Service Definitions Added via Packages" [10]. 8. Blogs -------- Some of us are still blogless. At least, someone has time to read others' blogs [1]. Martin Vidner was blogging about Jiri Suchomel's idea [11] of linking some "real code" from our documentation. [yast-devel] Using ISO image in Patch CD Update

Hello, I was trying to update SLED 10 from SP1 to SP2 using Patch CD Update and an ISO image but had no luck without burning the DVD. Even trying the dirtiest losetup & mknod tricks, the wizard still keeps looking at the physical drive or fails to mount the "losetuped" ISO image. Do you guys think it is a feature worth implementing (supporting Patch CD Updates from ISO image) or is this the intended behavior? [yast-devel] Pkg::SourceFinishAll() - new sematics in 11.1

Hi all, I have changed semantics of Pkg::SourceFinishAll() call in yast2-pkg-bindings-2.17.0. In the past it saved all known repositories and disabled them. Due to bug #395738 (and similar #155459, #176013) we need to separate saving and finishing the repositories. Another problem is that after Pkg::SourceFinishAll() reloading was not possible - this was also fixed, the sources are removed instead of disabling, so the next reload (Pkg::SourceStartManager()) will be successful. For YCP scripts that means that they should use Pkg::SourceSaveAll() when they add a new repository. Pkg::SourceFinishAll() should be used when the module finishes. (But all repositories are destroyed automatically in Pkg:: destructor, so nothing wrong happens when it's missing.) [yast-devel] [Announcement] Ports for SuSEfirewall added via packages

Hi, I'd like to announce one major change in openSUSE 11.1 / SLE 11: In the past, YaST Firewall had a special SuSEFirewallServices library that covered the main services for YaST Firewall UI. See a small example of Samba Server: "samba-server" : $[ "name" : _("Samba Server"), "tcp_ports" : [ "netbios-ssn", "microsoft-ds" ], "udp_ports" : [ "netbios-ns", "netbios-dgm" ], "broadcast_ports" : [ "netbios-ns", "netbios-dgm" ], ], This statically-defined library has been obsoleted by feature "Service Definitions Added via Packages" since openSUSE 10.3, openSUSE 11.0 still contains these definitions but some have been already replaced with the new dynamically-defined services. All statically-defined services were dropped in openSUSE 11.1 / SLE 11, SuSEFirewallServices will only provide conversion to the new type of services if possible. Please, make sure your packages provide service definitions for SuSEfirewall2.
