As is plainly obvious, the community is screaming for the ability to create content in their own language, with seemingly a new translation being added every few weeks lately, to the Documentation page. If I can make some observations and suggestions: 1. It is a bad idea to have language pages which no wiki admin speak and/or with a small number of active users, as a wiki is a balance of the freedom to publish and it being reviewed, edited and possibly deleted. 2. It follows on from point 1 that it is a bad idea to have a single wiki with pages in foreign languages. Whilst we are in a startup stage, awaiting the offical language wikis, this is not critical, but long-term, I see no option but to have as a policy that all pages be in the primary wiki language. 3. As there is a clear interest in other languages than the ones we were promised for the wiki, it is imperative that each additional language will not take the amount of time the first lot has taken. It is obviously serious, but can the community be given some hint to what the actual problem is causing month after month delay. Especially as there are some clever people around here, that could possibly help. 4. To be successful, each language added would need some core maintainers, to ensure that things are kept in order, as as wiki is a continuously changing beast. We don't want them to turn into http://www.opensuse.org.cn with no change since initial translation (somebody should at least update or delete the News on the front page). This may require openSUSE to open Wiki Adminship to trusted community members. It will be interesting to see how openSUSE handles having wiki languages which no openSUSE staff speak, as it means giving near total control to the community. Peter 'Pflodo' Flodin.
