Suse 7.1 I have been browsing the Suse site and have a couple of questions. If I go to http://www.suse.de/en/support/download/updates/71_i386.html to get security updates - what is the best way of downloading and installing them ? Is it simply a matter of doing (as root) rpm -U ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/7.1/sec1/openssh.rpm Can YOU do this any better ? I am interested to know how I can direct YOU to only update what I want. I have been reluctant to use it as I am not sure what it is up to. Brian Marr Postsript - the above seemed to work ok for openssh.

If it is updates of already installed packages, you can use SuSE's online update. Yast2 and software. For update of online packages, I have liked yast best. Selecting what to update with YOU is as simple as point and click. It also says which package updates are simply updates or security bug fixes, and it automatically selects (but you can deselect) the most important security updates. Although it's not for everyone, especially on a system that can't run YAST2 well, giving it a try won't hurt anything; it's pretty simple to use.
