[opensuse] virtualbox installation
On my 12.2 KDE box I am planning to use a virtual product and after findingseveral help sites on howto install e.g virtualbox I started wondering aboutthe availability of a virtualbox in Yast. Why should I go to the Oracle website as suggested in a howto, if Yast offersme an installation. Is it not complete and do I need anything else? Went to Yast and installed virtualbox with the idea that openSUSE would giveme a workable piece of software. But now I am stuck as I have no idea how tobegin. Where is the documentation for the Suse virtualbox? ___________________________________________________________ indomail - Your everyday mail - http://indomail.indo.net.id -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Have you tried: https://www.virtualbox.org/ ? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (24.1°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free DNS hosting, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

There is effectively no difference between the Oracle package and the openSUSE repo installed version. What problems are you having? You install it.. you start it... you install your gues operating systems into it. It is VERY easy to use, and very intuitive. If you need VirtualBox documentation, then look at http://www.VirtualBox.org There are no special tweaks for openSUSE (that I've noticed) other than the convenience of managing it through YaST. Install virtualbox, virtualbox-qt, and DKMS. Reboot. Run VirtualBox, note capitalization. If you need help, click the help icon and it will pull up the documentation. I moved a virtual hard drive from an Ubuntu box that used the Oracle package to OpenSuSE box with OpenSuSE packages. Worked fine.
