Just got an install of 7.1 going, and maybe I am confused. I thought the new version of Reiser supported large file sizes (greater than 2 GB)? Am I mistaken, or is there something I need to do to enable this? - Herman
You need to be using the 3.6.x file format. If you are using the 3.5.x format, there's no large file size support (>2GB). I believe if you do mkreiserfs --help, it will explain how to enable the 3.6.x file format. (I'm not sure since I'm still using the 3.5.x file format.) And from now on you can't boot from the 7.1 CD to install/update nor use the rescue system from the CD :( You'll have to create your own 2.4 based boot floppy in order to do so and good luck with that as I haven't been able to create one. So I just hope you thought about the consequences *before* doing that switch. BTW, my solution was a minimal Linux system on a ZIP100 disk from which I can boot in case I need a rescue system. -- Penguins to save the dinosaurs -- Handelsblatt on Linux for S/390
