Hi ! I'm trying to install suse 8.2 over ftp on a test machine. I cannot get it connecting to any ftp server. The machine is currently running e-smith fine with the network settings and I can ping ftp.suse.com (also tried some mirrors) I tried setting it up with the "install=ftp://...." option as well as with the manual installation (loading network module eepro100 and then selecting ftp install and entering all the network parameters) Does anyone have an idea how to diagnose that problem further, like anything I should look on any console? Any help is appreciated. Jochen Daum Web Architect/Database Developer CANS Ltd. 5 Heb Pl Takanini, Auckland (09) 279 5777 jochen.daum@cans.co.nz
Hello, when you first boot from the boot cdrom, there are 4 options you can select with up/down arrow keys. Press down arrow once to get to the second from the top selection, and then type 'install=ftp://1.2.3.4/pub/suse.....<enter>' and it should work fine. If you don't down arrow, it thinks you want to install from local cdrom. I don't recall what the screen actuall says but you can figure it out ;) Kevin B On Sun, 2003-06-22 at 19:16, Jochen Daum wrote:
