[opensuse] 12.1 nfsserver does not start, nfs does not mount
12.1, with nfsserver and nfs setup using Yast. 1. Server. nfsserver doesn't start. I think this is to do with:https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=732395 It may only be my setup that is encountering startup problems, so do you think it would be ok to add this issue to that bugzilla? 2. Client: nfs doesn't mount from fstab: When nfsserver is running (by waiting for the boot process to end and starting it manually) the nfs share is not mounted. Root has to mount it manually after the system has booted. With systemVinit the share is mounted OK. Same question as in 1. above. To get the nfsserver starting at boot automatically you have to manually insert rpcbind first. On 11.4 just running insserv nfsserver did the trick, with systemd on 12.1 this does not work. You'll need to run # insserv rpcbind # insserv nfsserver or the new way # systemctl enable rpcbind.service # systemctl enable nfsserver.service However, since both services do not yet have unit files the systemctl calls just revert to chkconfig anyway.

There's a big discussion on the list going on about this topic "Systemd and fstab", you might want to read that ;) Add comment==systemd.automount to fstab. Add comment==systemd.automount to fstab.
This was actually not needed for that OP and even broke his system. Adding nfs (client) service should be enough to have it mounted at boot time without using automount. cu, Rudi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

For me it works with _netdev instead, in fstab. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. My entire test box fstab looks like this: /dev/disk/by-id/usb-_USB_DISK_2.0_07AA1901CF6 3EDD2-0:0-part1 swap swap defaults 0 0 192.168.1.2:/home /home nfs4 defaults 0 0 Where would the comment==systemd.automount and/or _netdev be added? Where would the

be added?
See http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2011-12/msg00811.html And yes, that is 'stripped down' and you may want the _netdev and possibly noauto in there; I do. Where is the option field in an fstab line? That's in the manual. The fourth field (fs_mntops). This field describes the mount options associated with the filesystem. It is formatted as a comma separated list of options. It con- tains at least the type of mount plus any additional options appropriate to the filesystem type. For documentation on the available mount options, see mount(8). For documentation on the available swap options, see swapon(8). Thus: 192.168.1.2:/home /home nfs4 defaults,_netdev 0 0 And I posted the line days ago. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
