New subject: [SLE] procmail?
.forward is needed with SuSE, some distributions don't need it (recent versions of RedHat for example). Basically I suppose .forward is checked by the MTA to see if you want mail dropped into your /var/spool/mail mailbox or want it handing over to some other program to process. Using .forward lets you define the program that will process the mail (ie allthough it usually is procmail you could specify something else).
