It looks as though it is not a NVIDIA driver problem, but a SiS5591 AGP driver support in the kernel. How do I find out the status of driver support in the kernel. I do know that SiS no longer supports this chipset. I do not know if the kernel programmers have access to the technical specifications on this chipset. I would not mind volunteering the motherboard to get a driver written for it. Or, I am willing to learn to program a driver for it, however I do not have a clue on C/C++ programming. I can stumble through it and read/understand it to a certain extent. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! After looking at some websites I need to check some options in my BIOS(Set IRQ for VGA) and ensure that no other cards are using the same IRQ as the video card. Also, they say that the SiS5595 chipset is unknown to work with NVIDIA cards in linux. I currently have a Mantel 2.4.10 kernel that I compiled and the NVIDIA 1541 drivers self compiled and installed. The driver loads up fine. When I start X it gets all the way to picking a 1024*768 mode for my monitor and then it errors out with a XIO Error 104. Unable to establish communication. My first thought is AGP driver, however, when I check cat /proc/nv/card0. It shows AGP Enabled and using the Nvidia provide d AGP. When I look in the AGP section of the NVIDIA install pdf file my SiS5595 chipset is not supported by NVIDIA's AGP driver. My question is how do I get the kernel AGPGART to work. I know how to compile it into the kernel. I would like to do a cloneconfig compile of the kernel as ALSA does not work any longer either. How do I get this to work now that I have changed my kernel compile selections? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try the following option in your XF86Config Option "NvAGP" "2" You may be able to fix the ALSA problem by compiling the latest sourcefiles from www.alsa-project.org under your Mantel 2.4.10 kernel.
