[opensuse] ChatCam webcam
I picked up this cheap webcam to see if it works. I plugged it in to the usb port and nothing happened. Any idea on what to try next? Of course the only OS listed on the box is XP, but I thought I would try it. -- Bob Rea mailto:gapetard@stsams.org http://www.petard.us http://www.petard.us/blog http://www.petard.us/gallery What do you say to Jesus when he comes again? You can use lsusb to discover device info and use that to inform google searching... Dx -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I also have a cheapie webcam, from HP. My lsusb shows Hewlett-Packard, and Kamerka and Kamoso access it, if you have them. It also shows up as a choice in XSane. That's in PCLOS. Don't know what your os might have. --doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

open an xterm window and type; dmesg -T | tail but do not hit return plug in the webcam and immediately hit return in the xterm window see if your system sees that a new device was plugged in and what it reports it is. You may have a device that does not follow the normal protocols, ie: windoz only drivers. Providing the boxed name/manufacturer of the device might have provided enought information to google and perhaps a path from there. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
