Greetings, I have an emebedded LSI LOGIC SATA Raid controller, I have a driver disk which was provided with the SE7525GP2 mainboard. It is supplied as tgz conatianing a stiffy image, and comes with documentation but it is for Suse9.1 not 10... The Suse10 installer detects the SCSI drives but not the raid I have built, When I tried the disk Suse 10 installer says " no new drivers found" Hence meaning that: a) the driver is incompatibile ( most certainly) b) the driver is already supplied. Meaning it is not loading.... How do I proceed to work around this? Chadley
Hello Chadley, I have same problems with SE7320SP20. With suse 9.2 i used megaide driver from kernel*nogpl.rpm, but suse10 not have this driver. I send message to this list at Fri, 21 Oct 2005, but no any feedback. CW> I have an emebedded LSI LOGIC SATA Raid controller, CW> I have a driver disk which was provided with the SE7525GP2 mainboard. This is similar to the problem I have with a LSI controller, they had a driver package for the 2.4 kernel and would not provide an update for the 2.6 kernel. Unless you can convince LSI to provide an updated package for the 2.6 kernel you may be out of luck. I even contacted some people at kernel.org and they could/would not add support to the kernel tree because of a proprietary library file required. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998

The above make excellent arguments for not using controllers not supported by the vanilla kernel. Regardless, you may want to post your scsi driver questions on linux-scsi@vger.kernel.org. LSI has a driver developer on that list and he often gives answers related to support issues on their drivers. FYI: I don't think you have to subscribe to post on that list. Do ask to be cc'ed on any responses, but that is standard etiquitte on the kernel lists. Greg -- Greg Freemyer The Norcross Group Forensics for the 21st Century

use linux softraid instead of the hardware raid. assuming you have no data yet in your raid, then just disable it (bios?). then do the suse install. when it shows its installation proposal, go to "partition", and then expert expert expert (or similar;-) then you can define new partitions as raid and set them up. Then yast does the rest. HTH, Matt
