koffice-wordprocessing update broke kdm startup
After updating my 9.3 installation to the latest version of koffice-wordprocessing-1.3.5-11.2 (via yast2 online_update) my laptop will not enter into init 5. It crashes and the logs files only log the following: Abnormal termination of greeter for display :0, code 127, signal 0 Is anyone else experiencing these issues? Actually, after looking ... koffice-1.3.5-11 koffice-presentation-1.3.5-11 koffice-spreadsheet-1.3.5-11 koffice-wordprocessing-1.3.5-11.2 koffice-illustration-1.3.5-11 Notice that koffice-workprocessing is at version 1.3.5-11.2 while the koffice packages are at 1.3.5-11. I did not force this update, it just updated automatically. Well, does anyone else have this problem. I bet it was the mirror I used. Thanks, LDB

I just had a battle with the same problem on my 10.0 system. I got "Abnormal termination of greeter for display :0, code 125, signal 0" For my part it turned out to be a bad RPM that snuck through yast/apt. The kdebase3-3.4.2-27 failed with "bad cpio magic" during the update but it still installed itself breaking the install. The strange thing was it passed MD5 check. I reverted to kdebase3-3.4.2-26 and the greeter hung on reboot using 100% CPU. I read somwhere on the et that it had something to do with fontcache, so i ran "fc-cache -f" Still no go. i ran "SuSEconfig --module fonts" and it still fouled. I finnaly rinstalled (forced) the 75dpi fonts and a few others to make SuSEconfig really fix it. Now it SEEMS ok.... -- -- /Rikard ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- email : rikard.j@rikjoh.com web : http://www.rikjoh.com mob : +46 (0)736 19 76 25 ------------------------ Public PGP fingerprint ---------------------------- < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >

Yes, I am talking to myself via a mailing list here .. :) More investigation after putting kdm into debug mode reveals that symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libfontconfig.so.1: undefined symbol: FT_Load_Sfnt_Table This package has not changed since March. Why this issue all of a sudden? Any ideas would be great. :) LDB On Fri, 28 Oct 2005 09:52:12 -0500, Lawrence Bowie wrote
